Over the course of 5 years, some 450 salt spreaders will be delivered. This transition means that it will be possible for the bulk of England’s winter road maintenance to move away from dry salt spreading. The trial is part of Essex County Councils comparison between the performance of dry salt, pre-wetted salt and treated salt. The trial started in November and is expected to last until the first week of April.
